Casey and Jami Jones founded The Wharf 850 in 2019 with The Jay Odom Group Team.
Meet the Chefs
Casey and Jami Jones of Destin are not new to the food scene. Foodies to the core, with a passion for hospitality, they turned their love of entertaining and cooking for family and friends, into a business.
Raised in Destin, Florida, Casey became a professional fisherman from a young age. When the opportunity arose to transition, he did, owning and operating the original Fat Daddy’s Pizza in Okaloosa and Walton Counties. After a successful run in the pizza biz, Casey traded the pizza paddle, for a fishing pole, and returned to his fishing roots. Professional sport fishing was in his blood, and his team traveled extensively to compete in fishing tournaments. While on the docks, he and his friends prepared fine meals, with fresh seafood, for private boat clients.
Jami was raised in Kansas City, Missouri and arrived in Destin in 2001. In Kansas City, she worked in restaurant management, event planning, catering, and as a florist making memories beautiful beautiful. After 2001, in Destin, she operated a charter fishing service located on the Destin Harbor and opened multiple locations. Two weeks after arriving in Destin, Jami met Casey on the Destin Harbor where they both worked and a courtship began soon after.
With time, Casey’s traveling grew tiresome and unbearable for the couple. After significant debate, and prayer, they decided to purchase a food truck. Casey and Jami both loved to cook and entertain so, how hard could a food truck be, right!?! With that, the BIG Red Truck began. The BIG Red Truck established quite a following which grew into a restaurant on the Destin Harbor called the BIG Red Grill. Both the BIG Red Truck and Grill have developed a large catering business. Known for fresh locally sourced seafood and tacos, hand-cut French fries, homemade sauces, hand patted lean sirloin burgers, grilled salads, Philly cheesesteaks, and NO SHORTCUTS!
Casey and Jami contribute all their success to following God’s plan for their lives. The Lord continues to open doors and put people in their lives that become family and part of the exciting journey. Both Casey and Jami feel very blessed and EXCITED to be opening the Wharf 850 and making new friends in Niceville and the surrounding areas. Their wish with the Wharf 850 is to embrace the local community and provide a quality family experience with delicious, affordable food. Besides, the gorgeous waterfront view sure is hard to beat!!
